The Vind Family is Danish and descends from one of the few ancient noble families still living today.
Their origin fades out into Northern Jutland, more precisely Ulfsborg Herred, sometime in the twelfth century and from then on the family spreads out to other parts of Denmark, Norway and Scania.
Vind is a short name, characteristic of early Danish families, such as Kalv, Mis, Spide, Hase, Thun, and Mund. From 1525 and on it is possible to follow the family and individuals up until today through church registers and Books of Kings. The main occupations of the family members were knight, warrior, officer, diplomat and farmer. The number of family members has always been limited and in the fourteenth and fifteenth century it nearly became extinct due to the Black Plague.
Today, there are eleven descendents of the noble branch of the family in Denmark.
Sanderumgaard is the head quarters for this family.
